Our mini par 3, WHIFFER GOLF

In Whiffer Golf, golfers aim to hit a large whiffle ball into a series of holes on a course with the fewest possible strokes using one specified oversized club.

Before you begin, as a group decide on “your rules” for the final shot:

1. The ball needs to go into and stay in the bucket to finish the hole.
2. The ball needs to go into the bucket, but no penalty for bouncing out, to finish the hole.
3. If you chip the ball into the hole without hitting the sides—similar to a swish in basketball—you can deduct one point from your score. Hitting the flagstick is allowed.

Playing the game:

1. Teeing Off: Each hole begins with a tee shot, where the golfer places the ball on a tee and hits it from the designated teeing area toward the fairway.
2. Fairway Shots: After teeing off, golfers aim to hit the ball from the fairway toward the green, which is where the hole is located. The objective is to reach the green in as few strokes as possible.
3. Putting/Chipping in: Once close to the hole “on the green”, golfers chip the ball into the hole.
4. Scoring: Each golfer counts the total number of strokes taken to complete the entire round of golf. The golfer with the lowest total score wins.  Each hole on a golf course has a designated par, which represents the number of strokes an expert golfer is expected to take to complete the hole. golfers aim to score under par or at par.
5. Birdie: one under par (-1)
6. Eagle: two under par (-2)
7. Par: even 
8. Bogey: one over par (+1)
9. Double Bogey: two over par (+2)
10. Etiquette: Golf is a game of integrity and sportsmanship. golfers are expected to show respect for the course, fellow golfers, and the rules of the game. This includes repairing divots, raking bunkers, and keeping pace of play.
11. Honesty: Maintain honesty and integrity by adhering to the rules and reporting accurate scores.
12. Adult supervision: Children aged 10 and under must be accompanied by an adult while playing Whiffer Golf.  If children are over 10, we kindly ask parents to keep an eye on their kids to maintain a safe and enjoyable environment for all golfers.

OTHER GAME PLAY

Stroke Play (2-4 golfers): Regular golf the lowest score at the end wins. Chipping a ball into a bucket subtracts one stroke for that hole.

Match Play (2 or 4 golfers):  If you win the hole you get 1 point, if you tie a hole nothing happens. Most points at end wins.

Skins (2-6 golfers):  The lowest score on each hole gets a skin, if there's a tie for the lowest the skin is carried over to the next hole which is now worth 2 skins.

5-3-1 (3 golfers):  Each hole is worth 9 points, 1st place gets 5 points, 2nd place gets 3, 3rd place gets 1.  If two golfers tie a position they split the points from those 2 places. Most points at the end wins.

Team Alternate shot (4 golfers ):  Play 2v2 where you're team has to alternate hitting shots in either stroke or match play format.

Team Best Ball (4 golfers):  Play 2v2 where everyone plays their own ball and the best score for you're team at the end of each hole counts, can be played stroke or match play.

Fun Play (any number of golfers):  Don’t keep score and just have fun!

Make up one funny rule for each hole, and determine if the rule will be performed before teeing off or before “putting” or for each hit.  

Examples:

1. “The Dizzy Bat Hole” Spin 3 times with your head on the handle of the club then hit the ball right when you are done spinning.
2. "The Dance-off Hole": golfers must perform a silly dance chosen by their opponents. Failure to execute the dance results in an additional stroke.
3. "The Talking Ball Hole": golfers must give their golf ball a pep talk before hitting, encouraging it to find the hole.
4. "The Silly Sound Hole": golfers must make a ridiculous sound effect every time they hit the ball. The sillier the better!
5. “The One-handed Hole”:  golfers must golf the hole while standing on one foot and using only one hand to swing.
6. “The Pool Table Hole”: One “hit” must be hit using your golf club as a cue stick (laying or sitting on the ground)
7. “The No See Hole”:  One (or all, you choose) hits are hit with your eyes closed.  NO peeking!!
8. "The Whistling Hole": golfers must whistle a tune while hitting. Failing to maintain the whistle results in a penalty stroke.
9. "The High Five Hole": golfers must high-five their opponent before taking the hit. Failure to do so results in a penalty stroke.
10.  "The Air Guitar Hole": golfers must play air guitar for five seconds before the hit. Extra style points for creativity!
11.  "The Backwards Walk Hole": golfers must walk backward from the tee to the hole before taking their hit.
12.  "The Pantomime Hole": golfers must act out a scene from a movie or play before each hit. Creativity and performance quality are key!
13. "The Skipping Rope Hole": golfers must skip an imaginary rope ten times before taking their hit. Coordination is crucial!
14.  "The Joke Hole": golfers must tell a joke before taking their hit.
15.  "The Memory Lane Hole": golfers must recall and recite a childhood memory before taking their hit. Nostalgia adds an extra challenge!
16.  "The Movie Quote Hole": golfers must recite a famous movie quote before taking their hit. Bonus points for dramatic flair!
17.  "The Simon Says Hole": golfers must follow a series of commands given by their opponent (determine who gets to be Simon for whom)  before each hit. Accuracy and obedience are crucial!
18.  "The Freestyle Hole": golfers must come up with their own unique challenge or task to complete before their hit. Creativity knows no bounds!
